Products from Google Sheets

If you already keep your products in a Google Sheet, this is the easiest way to connect them. You paste one link. When you edit the sheet, the change is picked up within about a minute.

Steps

1. Open your product sheet in Google Sheets.
2. Click Share, then under General access choose Anyone with the link, and set it to Viewer.
3. Copy the link from your browser's address bar.
4. In Resandhi, open Connections, find Google Sheets under Your products, and click Connect.
5. Paste the link and confirm.

We only ever read the sheet. We never edit it, and with "Viewer" access we could not even if we wanted to.

How to lay out your sheet

Put one product on each row, with a header row at the top. Column names can be anything sensible, in English or Hindi. We read the headers to work out which column is which.

A simple sheet might have these columns:

• Product name, for example "Cotton kurta"
• Price, for example 1299
• Stock, for example 12
• Description, for example "Handloom, full sleeve"
• Image URL, a link to a photo of the product (optional)

Price can be written as 1299, 1,299 or ₹1299. Please use one price per cell, not a range.

Stock can be a number, or yes / no, or in stock / out of stock.

If your header row is not the first row, or your products are on a tab other than the first one, you can say which in the connection settings.

Sizes and colours

If a product comes in several sizes or colours, put each one on its own row and repeat the product name. We group them into one product automatically. For example, three rows named "Cotton kurta" with sizes S, M and L become one kurta with three sizes, each with its own price and stock.

Keeping it up to date

Edit the sheet as you normally do. We check it for changes every minute.

New changes arrive in your draft first. Check them in the test chat if you like, then press Publish to send them to customers. See Getting started for how draft and live work.

Changing stock or prices from WhatsApp

The owner commands can tell you about orders and sales from any product source. But they cannot change a Google Sheet, because we only have "Viewer" access. If you ask to change a price or mark something out of stock, the reply tells you to edit the sheet instead, rather than making a change that would be undone at the next check.

If a product does not show up

• Check the row has a product name and a price.
• Check the stock column. A word we do not recognise, such as "maybe", is treated as out of stock so the agent never offers something you may not have.
• Check the sheet is still shared as Anyone with the link.
