Products from Excel or CSV

If your product list lives in a file on your computer, you can upload it. You see a preview of what we read before anything is used, and any row we could not read is listed with the reason.

We accept .xlsx, .xls and .csv files.

Steps

1. In Resandhi, open Connections, find Excel upload under Your products, and click Connect.
2. Click Choose file and pick your file.
3. Check the preview. We show which column we think is the name, the price and the stock, and a sample of your products as the agent will see them.
4. If we guessed a column wrong, fix it in the preview.
5. Click Use this file.

Nothing changes until you confirm. If you pick the wrong file by mistake, just close the preview.

How to lay out your file

Put one product on each row, with a header row at the top. For example:

• Product name, for example "Cotton kurta"
• Price, for example 1299
• Stock, for example 12
• Description, for example "Handloom, full sleeve"

Columns are matched by their name, so the order does not matter. Headings can be in English or Hindi, and can include units or a slash.

Price can be written any way you normally write it: 1299, 1,299 or ₹1299.

Stock can be a number, or yes / no.

Sizes and colours go on their own rows with the product name repeated. We group them into one product automatically.

If your products are on a sheet other than the first, or your header is not on the first row, you can say which.

When a row cannot be read

We do not quietly drop rows. Each one we skip is named, with the row number you see in Excel's left margin and the reason. For example:

Row 47, Rate, "1299-1499": that looks like a price range. Give one price per row.

The reasons you are most likely to see:

• A price range instead of one price.
• A formula that was never calculated. Files saved by Excel are fine. Some files exported by other software store only the formula, not its result. Open the file in Excel and save it again.
• A word where a number should be, or a negative number.
• A stray comma in a CSV, which shifts the rest of the row into the wrong columns. Put quotation marks around any value that contains a comma.
• A stock word we do not recognise. This product is treated as out of stock and will not be offered to customers until you fix it.

If the same problem appears on hundreds of rows, we tell you once with a count, not hundreds of times.

Updating your catalogue

Upload a new file whenever your list changes. The new file replaces the old one completely, so make sure it has everything you sell, not just what changed.

The Connections page shows the name of the file that is in use and when you uploaded it, so you always know how old your list is.

If you would rather not re-upload, use Google Sheets instead. That one picks up your edits on its own.

Changing stock or prices from WhatsApp

An uploaded file is a copy, so we cannot change your original. If you send an owner command to change a price or stock, the reply tells you to update your file and upload it again.
